As the need to address the deepening absenteeism crisis and accelerate student learning grows, so grows our team. With a sense of urgency to expand our capacity to serve students, families, and educators, we’re excited to announce the addition of Diane H. Pappas to our executive team and Stephanie Crosier, Rielle Grant, and Liz Ralston to our district partnerships team, led by Jodi Dodds Kinner. Our new team members bring a breadth of diverse experience and expertise from across the education sector to our mission of improving student outcomes by reducing absenteeism.
Diane H. Pappas is a nationally recognized executive leader known for implementing cohesive and high-performing strategies for large-scale, complex organizations. She has led several high-profile investigations and successfully managed complex litigations. She recently led a team of more than 300 people in turning around one of the most significant student data projects in the country, My Integrated Student Information System (MiSiS), at the nation's second-largest school district, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Following the success of that initiative, she was appointed Senior Advisor to the Superintendent of LAUSD where she was instrumental in leading the districtwide attendance initiative. A long-time champion for children's rights, she is passionate about the education and safety of all children. She is also a prolific writer and has published 18 children's books.
Stephanie is a results-driven educator with a laser-like focus on joy in the classroom. She is an advocate and designer of identity-affirming schools and stresses the importance of removing oppressive systems from all learning spaces. With experience supporting a number of school districts across the nation, she has served as a teacher, instructional coach, school leader, principal manager and consultant. She has a track record of results in school turnaround and is known for creating a rigorous vision for instruction by providing wraparound support to both students and staff. Prior to joining the EveryDay Labs team, Stephanie served as the chief learning officer of Chicago’s second largest charter network. She has an unwavering belief in the capabilities of all students and has dedicated her life to ending education inequity.
Rielle is excited to join the Everyday Labs team as a Director of District Partnerships. Over the past 15 years, Rielle has worked towards strengthening the relationships between students, families, schools, and the greater community through her service with Americorps and by volunteering with nonprofits and other community organizations. Prior to joining Everyday Labs, Rielle worked in a variety of roles focused on providing schools and districts with timely and actionable data about student performance and engagement, so she is thrilled to now have the opportunity to engage districts with tools, resources, and an intervention that have been proven to have an impact on improving student attendance outcomes.
Liz Ralston is an accomplished executive sales professional with 25 years of sales and client services leadership experience in K–12 education technology market. She has had great success in building long term consultative strategic relationships from extensive experience working with many superintendent and executive district administrator organizations. Liz has had tremendous experience over the years as a key contributor to numerous organizational achievements. She is mission driven with energetic expertise as an innovative self-starter and is extremely passionate about making a difference for kids providing impactful programs in K–12 education.
As Vice President of Sales and District Partnerships, Jodi leads EveryDay Labs' efforts to forge strategic partnerships with school districts across the country. Formerly Vice President of National Literacy Initiatives for Scholastic Education and Director of Literacy for Chicago Public Schools, Jodi is committed to improving student achievement and combating chronic absenteeism. She has served as an advisor to the Aspen Institute on Urban Literacy Leadership, as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Illinois: Chicago, as an instructor at Kent State University, and as a research team member and elementary classroom teacher for Iowa City Community School District. Jodi is the creator of TIMEOUT for Reading, Real Men Read and the Literacy Round Table.
As CEO of EveryDay Labs, Emily is responsible for the organization's vision, strategy and leadership. The daughter of a first grade teacher, Emily is thrilled to marry her passion for improving educational outcomes with her experience designing and scaling interventions that change behavior. Prior to joining EveryDay Labs, Emily co-led Opower's energy efficiency business unit. Previously Emily advised schools, nonprofits, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies as a consultant at The Bridgespan Group, IDEO and Bain & Company. Emily holds an MBA and Certificate in Public Management from Stanford University and has two kids in elementary school in California.
As Director of Sales and District Partnerships, Nicole develops collaborative relationships with districts across the country to help strategically reduce absenteeism. Previously, Nicole was the Director of Literacy for Scholastic Education, where she partnered with educators across the country to implement student-centered literacy frameworks. Her areas of expertise include instructional leadership and teacher effectiveness; content and implementation; and student engagement and independence. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Innovation from the University of Colorado, a master's in Educational Psychology, and earned her undergraduate degree at Purdue University.
Todd is a behavioral scientist who studies how mobilizing and empowering students’ social networks can increase student success. He founded the Student Social Support R&D Lab at Harvard to use data and behavioral science to develop and prove scalable, high ROI interventions that mobilize and empower students’ social support systems to improve achievement. As Chief Scientist, Todd leads EveryDay Labs' research and innovation, leveraging evidence from our RCTs and academic research to improve the effectiveness of our programs. Todd received his PhD jointly from Harvard’s department of Psychology and Harvard Business School. His role as Professor of Public Policy at Harvard is independent of his role as Chief Scientist at EveryDay Labs.
Cindy works across EveryDay Labs’ teams to help remove barriers to success and deliver on EveryDay Labs' promise to positively impact students lives. Prior to joining EveryDay Labs, Cindy was the Director of Math Curriculum and Training for G&M Consulting Services. In that role, she worked with K-12 teachers on implementing effective math instruction in their classrooms. Cindy also worked as a Senior Program Associate in the Comprehensive School Assistance Program at WestEd, where her work was focused on facilitation of district-created curriculum and assessments. She has more than sixteen years of high school teaching and administrative experience in Arizona school districts.
